12 Desnus Year 4716 - Age of Lost Omens
The warship Last Wish was from Katapesh and being used by the Scarlet Triad. The ship’s captain Ozric was on the way to Deepmar to pick up the latest shipment of crystals and drop off supplies. The Scarlet Triad was using orcs from the Black Sun tribe of Belzen to operate the mines and colony of Deepmar in exchange for magical aid in their local conflict.
Katapesh is almost an anarchy, free trade reigns supreme. Mayor Jilia has sent word that Ravounel is now an independent country and slavers and slave ships would not be tolerated. She also sent word to the country of Andoran as she knows they are opposed to slavery and actually sunk three Katapeshi slave ships in the past. She is hoping for an alliance of some kind with them. We should keep an eye out for possible reprisals from Katapesh.
Happenings in Kintargo:
House Vashnarstill is beginning to build ships. The noble families feel a strong navy is essential for survival.
House Tanessen is now run by Geoff’s son Arius. He had fled Kintargo instead of executing a member of Hetamon’s group, the Rose of Kintargo. He has returned from Westcrown in Cheliax. He is using the family resources to build armor, weapons and general city defense.
House Jhaltero is ready to take over operations on Deepmar
Island with financing from House Dioso in Westcrown. You saved him at
Whiterock. He is not interested in using prison labor, he finds prisoners make
terrible miners. There is talk of transferring the prisoners to Dunrock prison
on Vyre or in releasing them.
House Aulorian has experience in silver mining and they are also interested in investing in operations on Deepmar.
Questions:
1. Do we take the goblins to their home? They are known as the Grim Claw Tribe. Their leader Krik wants peace. Krik trades with the Strix of the forest so that might be a good way to meet them.
2. The Royal Families do not want prison labor for the mines. Should we send them to Dunrock Prison on Vyre, jail them in Castle Kintargo, or possibly release them?
